Welcome to the Division of Government & Public Affairs (DGPA), where you will find the latest information and updates on current legislation that impacts the higher education community.

DGPA coordinates and publicizes the efforts of the higher education community in representing its concerns to the federal government. Staff members prepare testimony for congressional hearings, comment on proposed federal legislation and regulations, and file amicus curiae briefs on court cases with important implications for higher education, among other activities. For federal government policy makers, the division acts as the central source of information and counsel on higher education issues. Division staff members also communicate information on relevant educational concerns and ACE policy positions to the media, college and university officials, and the general public.

The division reports regularly on higher education issues through its online news source, Higher Education and National Affairs (HENA), which is a central stopping place for all DGPA communiqués, including letters to Congress, press releases, news stories, reports and papers, and legal briefs. HENA is distributed twice weekly to keep subscribers informed of new issues and ACE's position on those issues (click here to subscribe ). The weekly electronic letter from ACE President David Ward to member presidents—President to President—serves as a venue to keep members up to date on what is happening on Capitol Hill in any given week.
